Carl Andersen

Carl K. Andersen is the Technical Director, Operations, in the Federal Highway Administration, Office of Safety and Operations Research and Development. The Office conducts research on new and advanced technologies that support innovative ways of moving people and goods and the development of applications that use those technologies.  Current focus areas are the Next Generation of Traffic Management Systems, conducting research on improved safety and efficiency of the road network through Cooperative Driving Automation, and advances in Analysis, Modeling, and Simulation.  Carl is responsible for the FHWA Automation Research Roadmap, which guides Agency priorities on automation and defines key research needs over the next five years.
